Listen to podcast on tithing and giving
Rev. Heath Curtis, the coordinator for LCMS Stewardship Ministry, was a guest on “Issues, Etc.” on May 5 for an episode titled “A New Survey on American Protestants and Tithing.”
During the syndicated radio talk show and podcast, host Rev. Todd Wilken and Rev. Curtis – both pastors in The Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod – examined Lifeway Research’s recent survey titled “Protestant Churchgoer Views on Tithing and Giving.”
The online survey of 1,002 American Protestant churchgoers – including Lutherans, Baptists, Methodists, Presbyterians, non-denominational members, and Church of Christ members – was held Sept. 19-29, 2022. Lifeway Research released the results in a story on April 25. Respondents included men and women of different ages, ethnicities, regions, and educational backgrounds.
Rev. Curtis and Rev. Wilken discussed whether tithing is commanded in Scripture, if part of a tithe can go to a charity, and how giving methods have transitioned from currency to checks to online platforms.

2023 Stewardship Offering Pledge Form
Please complete this anonymous form, which is intended to serve as a reminder and pledge of how we manage God’s gifts to us. Our Lord is generous with His earthly gifts. In response, we thankfully and cheerfully give back to His Church.
A separate form should be submitted by each household or individual that receives offering envelopes. A high percentage of pledge responses from each household is needed in order for church leaders to more accurately plan the 2023 budget.
Please prayerfully consider your 2023 pledge. While tithing (10 percent) your income should be considered neither a rule for nor a limit to giving, it is a guide with scriptural precedent.
